James Brown

Date of Fellowship admission: 12 August 1707
James Brown received his medical degree from the University of Rheims on 12 April 1704. He petitioned the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh for a licentiate examination on 15 January 1706 and was examined by Drummond and Leirmont on 29 January, with twenty Fellows present. Brown was examined on 'the institutions, aphorisms, and two practical cases' and admitted Licentiate on 25 February 1706. He was admitted as a Fellow on 12 August 1707.

William Alexander

Patrick Sinclair

Thomas Young

Date of Fellowship admission: 12 December 1707
Thomas Young was the son of Janet Ross and George Young, a surgeon. He received his medical degree from the University of Utrecht on 18 June 1694, submitting his dissertation 'De natura et usu lactis in diversis animalibus'. He was licensed to practise on 23 September 1707 and admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on 12 December that same year. Young became the first Professor of Midwifery at the University of Edinburgh and was admitted to the Incorporation of Surgeons in May 1751, later serving as Deacon in 1756. In 1750 he published a syllabus of lectures on surgery and midwifery.

Robert Lowis

Date of Fellowship admission: 9 November 1708
Robert Lowis received his medical degree from the University of Leiden on 29 October 1707. He was licensed to practise on 7 September 1708 and admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on 9 November that same year. Lowis served on the committee responsible for collecting donations and managing the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, nine of whose twelve members were physicians.

James Crawford

Date of Fellowship admission: 13 February 1711
James Crawford received his medical degree from the University of Leiden on 6 July 1707, having studied under Boerhaave. He was licensed to practise on 12 December 1710 and admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on 13 February 1711 by examination. Crawford served on the committee to revise the 'Edinburgh Pharmacopoeia' on 25 May 1721 and was a member of the Society of Medical Practitioners, founded in 1731. He also lectured in physic and chemistry at the University of Edinburgh.

Nicholas Montgomery

Date of Fellowship admission: 5 August 1712
Nicholas Montgomery received his medical degree from the University of Reims on 30 July 1708. He was admitted by examination as a Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on 29 December 1709, though his name does not appear again in the College sederunts. He was later appointed to act as College Secretary in place of James Crawford, who had gone abroad. Montgomery died around thirteen years following his admission as Fellow of the College.
