Training Strategy Group

Representing the views and interests of the college at the JRCPTB to deliver and maintain high standards of medical training in the UK, representing the views of the College at other external organisations, providing strategic guidance for the MTI scheme and supporting trainees for MRCP exam prep.

Purpose remit and objectives

  • To represent the views and interests of the College as regards training matters with all relevant organisations, notably including the Joint Royal College of Physicians Training Board (JRCPTB)/Federation 
  • To provide advocacy and support of high standards of medical training in the UK 
  • To ensure the perspectives of all 4 UK nations are considered and represented in relevant training discussions
  • To report on training matters affecting doctors in training, trainers and medical students across the UK 
  • To collaborate with and support the Trainee & Members’ Committee on relevant training matters 
  • To discuss opportunities and threats to about medical training across the UK internally and with key partners

The Group will be co-chaired by the joint Deans of Training, Drs Kerri Baker and Marion Slater
