Dr James Howie Haldane, KStJ, MC, FRCP (E), FRCP (E), FRCP (G) – 93, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, died at the Halifax Infirmary, QEII on 21 July 2012. Born in Recife, Brazil, he was the younger son of Rev James Howie and Marion Kerr Haldane. He was the beloved husband of Vanora for 67 years.

Archibald Dewar McIntyre was born on 18 of February 1928 in a small cottage near Dunipace, the first of three sons to iron fitter James McIntyre and his wife Margaret. He attended Carmuir Primary School and then went on to Falkirk High. On leaving school in 1945 Archie commenced his studies in medicine at Edinburgh University.

Niru was born in India in 1971 and moved to the UK at the age of three. He studied medicine at Liverpool University graduating in 1994 and, although his father was a respected local GP, he chose a career in hospital medicine.
He completed his specialist training in Diabetes and Endocrinology on the Mersey rotation having undertaken an MD at Warwick University under the supervision of Dr Paul O’Hare (1999-2001).
