Council

The College's Council is comprised of elected Office Bearers, appointed Office Bearers, directly elected Fellows, representatives from the Trainees and Members' Committee, Lay Committee, and other Faculties and Colleges. 

Council meets regularly throughout the year to discuss issues of importance to Fellows and Members and set the strategic direction of the College.

USA - South East

Dr Mike Valentine received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed his medical residency and fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Emory University in Atlanta.  After fellowship, Dr Valentine joined private practice in Virginia in 1990. The group ultimately developed into an advanced system, participating in over 90 clinical trials and leading quality and advocacy efforts in the Commonwealth.

  • Obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Allama Iqbal Medical College Lahore, Pakistan in 1996.
  • Trained in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology at Health Services Executive,Ireland before relocating to UAE .
  • Nominated Fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and the American College of Rheumatology.
  • Delighted and privileged to be the regional advisor for RCPE.

Biographical information

Professor Tay is currently the Head and Senior Consultant, General Medicine II, Tan Tock Seng Hospital which is an acute tertiary admitting hospital. He has worked as a consultant in the department of general medicine for more than 10 years. In addition he has a special interest in vascular medicine. He is the current Chair of the Specialist Training Committee (Internal Medicine) and a Council member of the College of Physicians and the Academy of Medicine.
