Dr Ramcharan studied MB BS at The University of the West Indies (UWI) and training in both Jamaica and the Trinidad & Tobago, before working at San Fernando General Hospital for a number of years. He then moved to the UK, spending some time as a Commonwealth Scholar in Clinical Neurology, and working in Edinburgh at the Western, Royal Infirmary, and Hospital for Sick Children.
