Statements

Empowering medical excellence, shaping healthcare futures.
10 October 2025
Over the past two years, our College has issued multiple public statements to stress that we abhor violence of all sorts, particularly violence against civilians - and that there is a responsibility to protect healthcare professionals who work in zones of conflict across the World.
We have also urged all protagonists to permit humanitarian aid to enter zones of conflict.
As such, the College welcomes the ceasefire in Gaza and encourages all sides to adhere to the ceasefire.
The damage caused by this conflict is devasting: the ceasefire marks only the beginning of the long road to recovery, rebuilding and healing.
Aid must now reach Gaza immediately, unabated. Hospitals across Gaza should be provided with vital medical supplies, and international health workers must be given safe passage, to begin treating the sick and the injured.
The health and wellbeing of the general population in Gaza is a priority: the international community should use the ceasefire as a chance to achieve this.
Longer term, we hope that the ceasefire will act as a bridge to peace in the Middle East. This will benefit everyone in the region.
