Statement on Nepal and Tibet 

Commenting on this week’s extreme flooding in Nepal and Tibet, Professor Mark Strachan, President of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh said:

We are deeply saddened by the devastating disaster affecting communities in Nepal and Tibet, and our thoughts are with all those who have lost loved ones, been injured or displaced.

We pay tribute to the healthcare professionals, emergency responders and humanitarian teams working in exceptionally difficult circumstances to provide urgent care and support. 

The scale of this tragedy is a stark reminder of the vital importance of resilient health services and international cooperation in responding to humanitarian emergencies.

We stand in solidarity with the people and healthcare communities affected at this extraordinarily difficult time.
