Overview

This interactive half-day online course offers a practical and clinically focused update on managing acute psychiatric presentations in general medical settings. Bringing together experienced consultants across liaison, emergency, addiction, and general adult psychiatry, the programme covers key challenges such as altered mental state, psychopharmacology complications, self-harm, suicidality, and alcohol withdrawal.

Attendees will gain real-world insights through case-based discussions and a live Q&A panel. Including;

  • highly relevant, frontline clinical guidance for acute and general medicine
  • expert-led sessions with a multidisciplinary perspective
  • the opportunity to ask questions directly to a panel of specialists and deepen your practical confidence in managing complex psychiatric scenarios

Learning outcomes:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Assess and manage patients with altered mental state, including differentiating delirium from psychosis, and applying appropriate initial management strategies.
  2. Recognise and respond to psychiatric emergencies, including self-harm, suicidality, and complications of psychotropic medications, or alcohol withdrawal.
  3. Apply practical, evidence-based approaches to the management of common psychiatric conditions
