Each year, the College’s flagship St Andrew’s Day symposium brings together clinicians from across the UK and beyond for two days of practical learning, expert discussion, and shared experience in acute and general medicine. A long-standing highlight of the RCPE educational calendar, the symposium is recognised for delivering clinically relevant updates that support day-to-day practice while exploring the future of acute care.
With contributions from leading experts across a broad range of specialties, the programme combines practical “back to basics” approaches with the latest developments shaping modern medicine. Sessions are designed to support clinicians at every stage of their career, from those early in training to experienced consultants and multidisciplinary colleagues working across acute care settings. The symposium has continued to grow year after year, attracting delegates both in person and online through its flexible hybrid format and highly regarded catch-up access.
Alongside the educational programme, delegates value the opportunity to connect with colleagues, exchange ideas, and experience the unique atmosphere of Edinburgh during the festive season. Whether attending for clinical updates, professional development, or networking with peers across the acute medical community, St Andrew’s Day remains one of the UK’s leading meetings for clinicians working across acute and inpatient care.
Throughout the year, the College hosts a series of in-person events across the UK alongside online clinical updates with our international colleagues. Both bring together high-quality education and opportunities to discuss global and local issues for members and non-members. These events has taken place in Aberdeen, Newcastle, Belfast and with colleagues in India, Nepal, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Qatar, and Australia to name a few.
