Voluntary role
The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (“the College”) seeks to appoint two experienced and inspirational individuals as International Representatives on Council.

About the College
The College is a professional membership organisation that sets clinical standards and aims to improve the quality of patient care. Founded in 1681, we support and educate doctors in the hospital sector throughout the UK and around the world with approximately over 14,500 Fellows and Members in over 100 countries, covering 54 medical specialties and interests. The College enables a worldwide community of physicians and their teams to advance the health of our global population for the long-term benefit of society acting as the voice of our membership, engaging in health policy and promoting equality and human rights.
The College's Council is made up of elected and appointed office bearers and representatives from the Trainees and Members' Committee, Lay Committee, and other Faculties and Colleges. Council meets regularly throughout the year to discuss issues of importance to Fellows and Members and set the strategic direction of the College. Council has oversight of all clinical, professional and health policy matters and may exercise such other functions as are delegated to it by the Board of Trustees.
The Role:
Applications are sought from current International Regional Advisers for two International Representatives to represent the needs and interests of international Members and Fellows on Council, while at the same time acting as an ambassador for the College in their respective areas.
The appointment will be for one term (three years) subject to satisfactory one-year review after the first year. (three years in total)
Regional adviser term lengths differ to the Council role term length. Should the successful post holder demit from their Regional Adviser role they would not automatically demit from their Council position.
