Block Grant Scheme
Attend multiple RCPE symposia for a one-off study leave payment of £150
The RCPE has agreement with NES Scotland Deanery. All trainee regions SpR or ST3+ in a medical specialty and public health, or an IMT or ACCS at any eligible event in the College’s main symposium programme triggers a one-off payment of £150, which trainees can then redeem from their study leave budget.
That trainee can then attend as many other eligible symposia as they wish during that academic session (September to August) without any further charge. The block grant scheme does not apply to any courses or conferences unless specified.
- Please check the fees section of the symposia details to see if the block grant fee option is available.
Applying for your Study Leave
When applying for study leave for eligible RCPE symposia, you should apply via NES as you would for other study. Once NES has granted your leave, use your study leave number to make booking on RCPE events calendar.
Then do the following steps:
- Book for the symposia you wish to attend via our event pages
- From the ticket options presented select ‘Block Grant’ and complete the block grant specific questions with your study leave number
- If you are booking for your first meeting of the academic year – please select ‘£150’ and continue to make payment
- Following your initial booking of the academic year your study leave code will be checked and you will receive a discount code and instructions from us to use for any further symposia bookings within that academic period (there will be no further payment requirement for that academic year)
- Note: you will continue to need to use your study leave code, alongside the discount code, for making your bookings for the remainder of the academic year
- When a new academic year starts (September-August) you will need to apply again and supply RCPE with a new study leave number
- Please contact bookings@rcpe.ac.uk if you have not received your block grant discount code
