Statement on humanitarian aid to Gaza

The UK Government, alongside international partners, has urged immediate humanitarian access to Gaza to address the dire healthcare crisis. The College supports this position, recognising that the reported blockades are – and continue to be – disastrous for people in Gaza.

The ongoing restrictions have left medical supplies depleted and healthcare workers struggling to provide essential treatment. It is essential that aid organisations are allowed to operate independently and impartially to deliver life-saving assistance, and basic food provisions.

The denial of humanitarian aid risks violating international humanitarian law and exacerbating the suffering of civilians. Immediate action is needed to ensure that medical aid reaches those in desperate need.

The College is a multinational, multifaith healthcare charity. Its Fellows and Members share the collective purpose of improving the standard of medical practice and the quality of patient care, wherever they may work.

On behalf of all our Fellows and Members, we express our abhorrence of violence in all forms, our compassion for all affected peoples and our support for the healthcare workers who are risking their lives caring for the sick and injured.

Fellows and Members wishing to explore means of providing support may choose to consider donating to any of the following:

British Red Cross

Save the Children

The International Rescue Committee

Doctors Without Borders (MSF)

World Central Kitchen
