College appoints new Treasurer

The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (“the College”) has appointed a new Treasurer, Mr Jonathan Peake. Jonathan is the Chief Financial Officer and an Executive Director of Hampden Bank, the Edinburgh based private bank, which he joined in 2022.

Previously Jonathan spent more than six years as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director for the banking and wealth management businesses of Standard Bank International. He has held a variety of senior financial and governance roles during his career, having served as Head of Risk for both Standard Bank and Deutsche Bank International. He was also a Senior Manager at KPMG Forensic where he led multiple projects and investigations across the financial services sector. Jonathan is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, having originally trained and qualified with PwC.

Speaking today Professor Mark Strachan, President of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, said:

We are extremely pleased to have appointed Jonathan Peake as the College’s new Treasurer. He has a vast amount of experience in the financial sector and in governance and this will be invaluable to the College as we go forward.

I, our office-bearers and the College’s Board of Trustees all look forward to working closely with Jonathan as we seek to position the College in the best possible place to support our Fellows and Members effectively as they progress through their careers.

Jonathan Peake, Treasurer of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, said:

I am delighted to be appointed as Treasurer of the RCPE. The College’s purpose, in particular its commitment to fostering an environment of learning, career development, and educational support for all its Fellows and Members, resonates strongly with my values.

The College’s impact in healthcare and medicine, both in the UK and internationally, is globally recognised and I am honoured to take up the Treasurer role at such an exciting time for the RCPE. I hope to bring my experience as a Chief Financial Officer and Head of Risk, gained over many years in the financial services sector, to benefit the College and its members.
