Event Overview

This RCPE Professionalism in Medicine series focuses on creating value through personalised medicine.

Healthcare systems face multiple challenges, including staff shortages, limited resources, an ageing, more multimorbid population and high costs of new medicines and technology. Realistic medicine through a personalised method aims to mitigate these hurdles, using a modern strategy to provide appropriate patient care rather than a one size fits all approach.

During this session the role of realistic and personalised medicine in the delivery of modern healthcare will be outlined. As the population becomes increasingly multimorbid, the value of the MDT in decision making over personalising care for patients will be discussed. The session will be concluded by a discussion on the fundamentals of learning how to hold and balance risk in decision-making when providing the most appropriate care.

Recently Appointed Consultants' Committee: This event is organised by the Recently Appointed Consultants’ Committee. The committee was established to support those in the first 10 years of being a consultant.

Target audience: While predominantly aimed at Recently Appointed Consultants the event will be relevant to all grades of medical, nursing, scientific staff, allied health professionals and medical students.
