Championing SAS Doctors and Sexual Health

Dr Carlos Oroz is an Associate Specialist in GUM & HIV in Edinburgh. He qualified as a doctor in Spain (University of Zaragoza) and moved to the UK in 1994. Having trained as a GP in the Oxford Region, he moved to Scotland in 1998 where he combined work in Primary Care, GUM and Family Planning until 2002. He led the Genitourinary Medicine service in Fife from 2002 to 2004 and moved to Edinburgh in 2006.

He has held various positions at the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH) - SAS representative for Scotland and member of the Educational Committee. As part of the BASHH SAS group, he was lead author for the Audit on the management of PID in UK clinics, published at the International Journal of STD & AIDS. He also published on SAS doctors’ career progression and on the role of the BASHH SAS Group.  He is currently a member of the BASHH SAS Annual Conference Organising Committee and the SAS group Executive Committee. 

Carlos is a trained GP and holds a Diploma in GUM, a PG Diploma in Infectious Diseases, a Membership of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (RCOG) and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh. He leads the Locality Services Team for the Lothian Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare Service.
