Candidates passing MRCP(UK) are invited and encouraged to attend a Diploma Ceremony in the College. The ceremonies are family events and are conducted in the Physicians' International Conference Centre followed by a delicious hot, sit down buffet dinner in our Great Hall and New Library. Our photographer will be available to take family photographs and there will be guided tours of the historical rooms and presentations on some of the College treasures from our Heritage team.
Forthcoming dates
- Diploma Ceremonies have been on hold due to the onoing COVID 19 outbreak, however we are hopeful that we will be able to restart them in Autumn 2021. Dates will be posted here once they are confirmed.

Manchester
The daytime ceremony is held in the stunning surroundings of University of Manchester’s Whitworth Hall followed by a tasty buffet lunch. Our photographer will be available to take family photographs both before and after the ceremony. College mementoes will also be on sale during the day.

Cost
Attendance at the Diploma Ceremony is free of charge. If you wish to stay for the buffet meal the new Member is free of charge; guests are charged at £20 each. Children are very welcome and those under 10 years old are free. A special menu for children will be available at the evening dinner.
Photographs
We will have an official photographer at each Ceremony. A photograph showing each new Member shaking hands with the President will be taken and this is provided free of charge to Collegiate Members. This is available to buy for non-Collegiate Members. The photographer will be available to take individual/family photographs. Diplomates may be photographed wearing the Collegiate Membership gown (black with green trim) if they are or have applied to become a Collegiate Member of the College.
Gowns
Gowns are not worn for the ceremony itself. For private family photographs Edinburgh Collegiate Members may be photographed wearing the Collegiate Membership gown (black with green trim) if they are or have applied to become a Collegiate Member of the College. If you are not a member of the Edinburgh College you will not be able to wear the gown.
