The "Top Tips for New Doctors" Evening Medical Update is an extra session as part of the Evening Medical Updates (EMU) programme. EMUs historically cover specialties, presentations and conditions included within the Internal Medicine Training (IMT) curriculum. Topics are covered in monthly updates between September and June of each academic year.
Although this "Top Tips” event is aimed primarily at medical graduates who have either just started their first hospital job or will be starting after August, Evening Medical Updates are open to all healthcare professionals and medical students. This event is free of charge to all.
This EMU is designed to provide you with tips and advice for your first year as a new doctor. Many of you may already be gaining valuable experience of working on the ward, we hope this event will provide some extra insight for your first year. The programme features speakers with a personal knowledge of this important milestone in becoming a doctor.
This Evening Medical Update will be broadcast live with delegates able to view the talks live online from home or live from a participating live-link site (please see the Live-Link tab for a site close to you). The event will also be recorded and made freely available on our Education Portal afterwards.
Delegates are able to submit questions via Slido and we will cover as many questions as possible during the live session.
Attendance options:
- Online from home, with catch-up access, or
- In-person from a participating live-link site (see live-link tab for a site close to you).
Registered delegates can view this event on catch-up for 28 days following the live event, i.e. until Tuesday 25 August 2026. To obtain an attendance certificate you must complete the online feedback survey by Tuesday 25 August 2026.
If you are unable to attend this event live but would like to view this event for 28 days post-event and qualify for an attendance certificate (if feedback is completed), please register before the live event is due to take place in order to be given access. It is no longer possible to register for catch-up viewing after the live event has taken place.
