I am a Professor of Infectious Diseases at University College London. I work across two institutes, the Institute of Clinical Trials and Methodology, and the Institute for Global Health. My specific role at the former is as lead of the Infections theme at the MRC CTU, ongoing since 2016. I have a strong commitment to equality,diversity and inclusion. I was the inaugural Chair of a cross institute mentoring group at UCL within the Faculty of Population Sciences at UCL, this activity has now expanded to include all 9 institutes within the Faculty with several hundred mentors and mentees involved in this activity. I think mentoring and being mentored is critical at all stages of one’s career, and this should be expanded globally, the RCPE is a perfect setting to expand mentoring both nationally and internationally, in order to nurture and support the next generation of clinical and research leaders.
