This award is open to medical students and foundation doctors (FY1 and FY2).

The Clouston Memorial Trust Award is to promote interest and research in relation to psychiatric work in any of its aspects. The prize is £150 and is a bi-annual prize for an essay related to psychiatric work. The award will be offered in 2021.


To qualify applicants must be a current medical student at a recognised university, or in their first two years of work post-university (FY1 or FY2 doctor or equivalent).

Be willing to have their essay published on the College website.

Application and selection process

Applicants will be asked to complete a 1000 word essay (max) of their own work on any topic relating to psychiatric work.

Applications are now open for 2021. Please submit your essay alongside the equality and diversity form below, as well as your current employment or place of study to prove to your eligibility by the 30 April 2021 to
