The College is calling for nominations for the position of President. This is the key leadership role of the College and is one that has grown in influence, impact and scope since its inception in 1681. The President has leadership responsibility for the elected and appointed Office Bearers, directly-elected Fellows and representatives from the Trainees and Members' Committee, Lay Committee and other Faculties and Colleges who collectively form the Council, the College’s governing body.

The successful candidate will have a leading strategic role in the development of College policy and will be an advocate for the profession with government(s) and others at Ministerial and executive level.  He or she must be available to work in Edinburgh for a minimum of between 2-3 days a week.  Additional commitments include ceremonial events and meetings across Scotland, the UK and overseas.

All Fellows who are up to date with payment of the annual subscription, or who are exempt from such payment, are invited to nominate a Fellow for election as President.  Nominations should reach the College no later than midnight on Monday 2 September 2019.    

The term of office is 3 years, and the successful candidate will serve as President-Elect from 29 November until he or she takes up office as President on 1st March of the following year.
