International Training Opportunities

UK training opportunities for international trainees

The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh welcomes international medical graduates (IMGs) to join us in the UK to support the NHS. IMGs play provide valuable contributions to our NHS and this programme aims to ensure they are well supported as they transition to UK clinical practice.

The College sponsors the Medical Training Initiative (MTI) a UK Government scheme, which allows a number of international medical graduates to train for up to 2 years in the UK.

This programme provides a valuable experience for international doctors who have completed their core general medical training and are in a higher specialty programme to gain specific speciality skills within a quality assured training post in the UK.

International training opportunities for UK trainees

The College is exploring how we can support UK trainees taking time out-of-programme to experience working in another country. If you are a Fellow of the College based outside the UK and would be interested in providing training or volunteering opportunities to UK trainees or physicians, please contact Dr Conor Maguire, VP International.
