We help facilitate international medical graduates to train in the UK and are exploring ways to support UK trainees experience working abroad.

UK training opportunities for international trainees

The College is a sponsor for the Medical Training Initiative (MTI), which is a UK Government scheme that allows a number of international (non-EU) medical graduates to train for up to 2 years in the UK.

The MTI is most suited to doctors who have completed their core general medical training and are in a higher specialty programme. Our MTI provides excellent UK experience in an approved training post and could be targeted to the attainment of specific specialty skills.

For UK trainees internationally

The College’s International Development Group is exploring how we can support UK trainees taking time out-of-programme to experience working in another country. If you are a Fellow of the College based outside the UK and would be interested in providing training or volunteering opportunities to UK trainees or physicians, please contact Professor Sunil Bhandari, International Director.
