Medical training initiative

The Medical Training Initiative (MTI) is a national scheme enabling a small number of International Medical Graduates (IMGs) to experience training and development in the UK for up to 24 months. The IMGs train in the NHS before returning to their home country to implement their new skills and experience.

We are now welcoming applications from International Medical Graduates and the NHS for training posts starting August/September 2015.

Supervised by a qualified NHS consultant, RCPE IMGs receive core and/or specialty medical training. In most instances the training plan is tailored to suit the MTI doctor’s educational objectives, and considers the work the doctor wishes to undertake on returning home.

The MTI is suitable for training at all levels, especially individuals seeking a period of higher training in more senior training posts such as Specialty Training Years 5, 6 or 7.

The RCPE has approval to sponsor GMC registration for IMGs.
