Medical training initiative

The Medical Training Initiative (MTI) is a national scheme enabling a small number of International Medical Graduates (IMGs) to experience training and development in the UK for up to 24 months. The IMGs train in the NHS before returning to their home country to implement their new skills and experience.

We can place trainees in any specialty requested but immediately have training posts available in Cardiology, Renal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Elderly Medicine/Geriatrics, Respiratory, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Acute & Stroke Medicine; and are welcoming applications from IMGs who meet our Eligibility criteria

We are also welcoming enquiries from NHS staff for training posts they have available starting late mid/late 2015 and 2016.

Supervised by a qualified NHS consultant, RCPE IMGs receive core and/or specialty medical training. In most instances the training plan is tailored to suit the MTI doctor’s educational objectives, and considers the work the doctor wishes to undertake on returning home.

The MTI is suitable for training at all levels, from Specialty Training Year 3 and above.

The RCPE has approval to sponsor GMC registration for IMGs and will also facilitate the Tier 5 Visa.
