Biographical information

Dr Vijayaraghavan graduated from Trivandrum Medical College  in 1964.   In  1976 he was Associate Professor,  Christian Medical College, Vellore whilst working on the natural history of tropical endomyocardial fibrosis and its possible relationship with eosinophelia. He established   Trivandrum   Medical College as a  continuing medical education centre on echo in India (with the first 2-D echo laboratory in India) and also the Middle East’s first Doppler Echo laboratory at Kuwait University  and instituted a new treatment for  cerebera odollum.  At the  University of California in 1983 he  and Professor Pravin Shah co-authored the USA’s first book on Doppler Echocardiography.  In 2001 he was appointed chief of cardiology at the  Institute of Medical Sciences where he is also Vice Chairman  and Director of medical services.
