Vacancy: RCPE Intern: Marketing and Communications

Salary: £11.44 per hour

Location: Edinburgh/Hybrid                                                                                                 

Fixed term contract, 35 hours per week, up to 10 or 12 weeks over summer 2024

We are seeking to appoint a marketing and digitally focussed intern within the marketing and communications team of the College. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated undergraduate or recent graduate in business studies, marketing or communications, with a keen interest in gaining exposure to the work of a busy marketing, communications and design team.

The College is an independent professional membership organisation and registered charity, which supports the medical profession to deliver the gold standard in healthcare provision.

We have a network of over 14,500 Members worldwide and help qualified doctors pursue their careers in specialist medicine through our world-renowned education and training programme to support their professional development for physicians throughout their careers. We ensure that the views and practical clinical experiences of our membership are taken into account by health policy makers throughout the UK and communicated to the media and the public. We provide resources and information to support and facilitate professional development for physicians throughout their careers.

The Role

Working with the marketing and design team the Intern will be involved with a range of activities to enable the progression and development of the College’s marketing and digital programme.

The role holder will support the process of promoting education and other training events from start to finish, including developing digital collateral and the development of the new College and Venue websites being launched summer 2024.

You will produce social media images and digital posters for educational events and overall, contribute to the promotion of around 70 educational events. Preparing new email templates for Dotdigital across the College and supporting the preparation of a series of HTML emails are also part of your remit. Additionally you will be asked to prepare and schedule posts using our social media scheduling platform Meltwater, and draft content to engage conversations the social media streams.

This role will be predominantly based in the College but with occasional remote/home working supported where possible. Candidates therefore need to be able to travel to Edinburgh regularly.

Who we are looking for

The successful candidate will satisfy the following requirements:

  • Preferably be an undergraduate or recent graduate in business studies, marketing or communications.
  • Have a keen interest in gaining exposure to the work of a busy marketing, communications and design team.
  • Possess good copy and content writing skills.
  • Possess good working use of Microsoft Office.
  • Experience of editing PDF’s, preferably using Adobe.
  • Interest in social media.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • A creative and flexible approach.
  • Possess good time-management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task when dealing with various projects.
