Vacancy with:
MRCP(UK)

The Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK is seeking to appoint an Associate Medical Director for Written Examinations to lead the academic development and oversee the production of the MRCP(UK) Part 1, Part 2 Written and 12 Specialty Certificate Examinations, currently taken by over 20,000 candidates globally per annum.

Hundreds of physicians are involved in developing and delivering 18 written and computer-based MRCP(UK) examinations every year, which are underpinned by rigorous quality control processes and a question bank with over 40,000 high quality questions.

Working with the Medical Director, Dr Andrew Elder, the Associate Medical Director for Written Examinations is responsible for ensuring that key academic objectives and standards are met at every stage of the production of our written examinations; from the training of question writers, to the creation of questions and generation of examination papers.

The successful applicant will hold a key role in overseeing the question writing and examination construction process, working closely with clinical and administrative experts to ensure that the standard of the written examinations meet the regulatory requirements set out by the General Medical Council.

The appointee will be a Fellow of one of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom, practising in a medical specialty and a physician of considerable standing. The role will require frequent attendance at a variety of question writing and examination board meetings across the UK and occasional international visits in support of the development of the examinations.

The appointee’s employer will be reimbursed for the equivalent of three PAs per week.

Applicants should submit a brief outline of their professional training, together with a resume of their commitment to medical education and training, and their specific expertise in the MRCP(UK) Diploma and Speciality Certificate Examinations with details of two referees.
