Scottish Huntington’s Association

The Scottish Government commissioned the Scottish Huntington's Association (SHA) to develop a National Care Framework to help ensure families affected by the condition are given the best possible care, information and support regardless of where they live in Scotland.  The aim is to develop and publish an overarching National Care Framework by the beginning of 2017, before taking a further two years to develop more detailed localised frameworks for each health board area thereafter.

The College welcomes the interactive version of the framework and commends its person centred approach. Our response suggests including a general outline of areas of function most likely to be affected and the range of variation that should be anticipated. There could also be more acknowledgement of those who are more isolated, without family or carers.
