    • Alexander Campbell, 1st of Auchendarroch (also written as Achandarrach and Auchindaroch) was born in 1800. He served in the Argyll and Buteshire Volunteer Artillery and a Deputy Lieutenant of the county as well as working as an advocate and serving as a Justice of the Peace. He married Harriet Keir in 1841 and they had eight children. He died in July 1902.

    • George Douglas Campbell was born on 30 April 1823 in Ardencaple Castle in Dunbartonshire. He married three times, having twelve children with his first wife. He assumed the title of Duke of Argyll in April 1847. Argyll held various positions in Government including Secretary of State for India from 1868-1874. He had a wide range of interests and was prolific writer. He died at Inverary Castle in April 1900.

He married Margaret Warrand in 1828 and they had five children. He died in 1856.
