Support for recently appointed consultants
Our Recently Appointed Consultants (RAC) Committee seeks to ensure that the
College provides appropriate, practical support to those in their first 10 years as
a consultant.
For 2015–2016 there are various activities and events organised by the RAC
Committee, including an evening meeting on 12 November 2015, and an annual
symposium on 22 February 2016.
The RCPE Mentoring Scheme is proving popular, with the first mentors and
mentees matched in 2015.

Support for continuing professional development (CPD)
We run the CPD Diary primarily for physicians in the UK, in conjunction with
RCP London and RCPS Glasgow. The diary can help you maintain a personal
and validated record of your CPD activities on an annual basis. Most of our
international Fellows use a local system, but the CPD diary is available to any of
our Fellows who wish to use it. See our website for details.
We also approve events and distance learning modules for CPD purposes. These
approved events, including those run by each of the three Colleges of Physicians,
appear on the Federation’s online database which is available through the CPD
Diary. Over 20,000 doctors use the CPD Diary and have access to this unique
resource of approved CPD activities.
Thinking about joining the College?
We hope you will! The larger our membership, the stronger our voice.
Membership is free for students and doctors in their first two years of practice
after medical school – please encourage anyone to join who you think would
benefit. After this, there’s an annual fee, but there’s a membership category for
every doctor – whatever career stage, and before and after MRCP(UK).
Members and Fellows attend our events for half-price or less, get free access
to our RCPE Online Education, the CPD Diary and library services, receive the
JRCPE
and can take part in College committees and exams. Your subscriptions
enable us to run all the free, or nearly free, events and services we offer each year,
including our webstreaming services and mentoring scheme.
Fees range from £50 to £350, with various discounts available – please see our
website for details. And if you’re in the UK, you can also claim tax relief on your
subscriptions.
