William Stevensone

Date of Fellowship admission: 29 November 1681
William Stevensone was one of the original twenty-one Fellows of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh when it was incorporated by royal charter on 29 November 1681. His name was written sixteenth on the charter. Stevensone served as the second Treasurer of the College, elected in 1682, and became its first Librarian in 1683. He retired from his treasurership to take up the librarian post. Stevensone's name disappears from the College meeting minutes after 1684.

The main qualification issued by the College, awarded regularly since the College’s foundation. This qualification was granted based on demonstrated breadth of experience and did not require an individual to pass a certain examination.
