William Robertson

William Robertson was born on 8 January 1818 at 28 Albany Street, Edinburgh, the son of George Robertson, Keeper of the Records at Register House. He graduated MD from the University of Edinburgh on 1 August 1839 and served as physician to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, medical officer to the Edinburgh New Town Dispensary and to the Scottish Widows Fund. In 1854 he volunteered medical service during the Crimean War at Renkioi Hospital. He became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 1860 and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on 7 February 1843.
