William Preston Lauder

William Preston Lauder was born in 1788, the son of Colin Lauder, army surgeon and Fellow of the College, and grandson of Edinburgh surgeon George Lauder. He was apprenticed to the Edinburgh surgeon Mr Law and later became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1807. He obtained his MD from the University of St Andrews on 4 March 1809 and was admitted a Licentiate of the College on 5 May 1818 and elected a Fellow on 4 May 1819. He practised in Edinburgh for some years and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1825. He died at Sloane Street, Chelsea, on 1 April 1850.
