William Porterfield

Date of Fellowship admission: 14 November 1721
William Porterfield was born in Ayrshire in 1696. He studied in Glasgow before continuing at Reims and Leiden. He was examined and admitted as a Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in June 1721 and later that year was elected a Fellow. Porterfield served as President of the College from 1748 to 1750 and became Professor of the Practice of Medicine in 1724.
