William John Harnett

William John Harnett trained at the University of Dublin and St Bartholomew's Hospital, London, becoming a Licentiate of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland and a Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1865. He later earned a Diploma in Public Health in 1890. He spent most of his career working in London, including as Consulting Surgeon to the Victoria Hospital, Barnet, and as Surgeon to the South Division of the Metropolitan Police. He also served as Medical Officer in Charge to the 7th Battalion, King's Royal Rifle Corps, and later as Surgeon-Major in the 22nd Middlesex Rifle Volunteers. He died in Barnet in 1915.
