William Eccles

Date of Fellowship admission: 1680s

William Eccles was admitted as a Member of the College sometime during the 1680s. He was later suspended from the College for unknown reasons, returning as a Member on 2 December 1703, when he was elected a Censor. Eccles served as President of the College in 1706 and on 26 September that year delivered a discourse before the College entitled 'De Hydrophobia'. He was appointed on 3 May 1709 to a committee for better regulating the practice of medicine among Fellows. His son James also became a doctor, admitted as a Fellow of the College on 24 March 1719.

Fellowship
The main qualification issued by the College, awarded regularly since the College’s foundation. This qualification was granted based on demonstrated breadth of experience and did not require an individual to pass a certain examination.
