Walter Adam obtained his MD from the University of Edinburgh on 1 August 1816. He was admitted a Licentiate of the College on 3 November 1818 and elected a Fellow on 2 November 1819. He joined the Royal Medical Society in 1813 and was admitted a Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians of London on 16 March 1818. His publications include 'The osteological symmetry of the camel', published in 1832.
