Thomas William Dewar, a nephew of James Dewar FRSE, trained in Edinburgh, earning his MB CM in 1884 and his MD in 1888. He worked at several hospitals, including Leith Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, and lectured in anatomy at the Edinburgh Extramural School of Medicine. He later moved to London, where he served as District Medical Officer at the Metropolitan Hospital, before returning to Scotland to establish a general practice in Dunblane. He died in Dunblane in 1931.
