Thomas Whitehead Reid

Thomas Whitehead Reid trained at St Bartholomew's Hospital, London, becoming a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1874 and a Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians of London in 1875, before joining the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1880. He earned his MD from the University of St Andrews in 1896. After a period as private physician to Baron Rothschild, he joined his father's practice in Canterbury, Kent, and worked as Surgeon at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital. He lectured at a range of institutions and was active in the St John Ambulance Association, which appointed him an Honorary Associate of the Order of St John of Jerusalem in England. He was also active in the British Medical Association, serving as President of the South East Branch, a member of the Central Committee, and Chair of the Hospitals Committee. He died in 1910 following influenza.
