Thomas Rutherford Ronaldson trained at the University of Edinburgh and worked in the city throughout his career. He held posts at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary as Resident Physician and Resident Surgeon, and served as Medical Officer at the Fountainbridge Dispensary. A Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, he was also a Member and one-time President of the Royal Medical Society of Edinburgh. Ronaldson published several articles on midwifery and neonatal health, including 'Tetanoid Convulsions in an Infant' in the Edinburgh Medical Journal. He retired in 1930 at the age of seventy-eight.
