Thomas Inglis

Thomas Inglis trained at the University of Edinburgh and began his career in hospital posts, first as House Surgeon at the Royal Maternity Hospital, Edinburgh, and then as Assistant Physician at the Royal Asylum, Edinburgh. He later entered general practice, moving first to Northamptonshire, then to Lincoln, before spending around fifteen years in Buenos Aires at the turn of the twentieth century. On returning to the UK, he became Public Vaccinator and Medical Officer for the Isle of Wight Union workhouse. A member of the Harveian Society and the Edinburgh Medico-Chirurgical Society, he published several articles including 'On Myxoedema', 'On Chronic Chloral Poisoning', and 'On Hystero-Epilepsy'.
