Thomas Arthur Ross

Thomas Arthur Ross was born in Edinburgh in 1875, the son of Thomas Ross, LLD. Educated at Edinburgh Academy and the University of Edinburgh, he graduated MB CM in 1897 and MD in 1901. He served as Resident Physician and Surgeon at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh before entering practice at the Royal National Hospital for Consumption, Ventnor. In 1919 he was appointed Medical Director of the Cassel Hospital for Functional Nervous Disorders, Swaylands. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1919 and of the Royal College of Physicians of London in 1933. His works include 'An Introduction to Analytical Psychotherapy', 'The Common Neuroses and Their Treatment by Psychotherapy', and 'An Enquiry into Prognosis in the Neuroses'. He died in Westminster in 1941.
