Stephen Coull Mackenzie

Stephen Coull Mackenzie was born in Calcutta and trained at the University of Edinburgh, earning his MD in 1864. He began his career as House Surgeon at Chalmers Hospital, Edinburgh, before joining the Bengal Army, where he rose to the rank of Brigade Surgeon-Lieutenant Colonel. Alongside his military service, he served as Professor of Hygiene and Medical Jurisprudence at the Medical College, Calcutta, and as House Surgeon at the College Hospital. He published several articles in Indian medical journals, many of which were later collected in 'Medico-Legal Experience in Calcutta' (1891). He died in Darjeeling in 1893.
