Robert Lewins studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh from 1809 to 1812 and graduated MD on 3 November 1829. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on 2 November 1830. Lewins published several papers, including 'Remarks on the Merits and Present State of Vaccination, Wherein the Objections of the Antivaccinists Are Considered' in 1825.
