Robert Durwood Clarkson graduated MD from the University of Edinburgh in 1906 and was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1910. He worked at the Scottish National Institute, Larbert, as Resident Physician at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Assistant to the Professor of Clinical Medicine, and Resident Physician at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Edinburgh.
