Robert Dods Brown graduated MD from the University of Edinburgh in 1905 and was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1910. He worked in Edinburgh as Senior Assistant Physician at the Royal Edinburgh Asylum, Resident Physician at the City Hospital, and Resident Physician at the Royal Infirmary before becoming Physician Superintendent at James Murray's Royal Asylum, Perth. His publications include 'Case of Narcolepsy' (1908), 'The Psychoses of Influenza' (1908), and 'Production of Leucocytosis in the Treatment of Mental Disorder' (1912).
