Robert Abernethy

Robert Abernethy graduated MB CM from the University of Edinburgh in 1888 and MD in 1893. He became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1892 and was elected a Fellow in 1893. He served as President of the Royal Medical Society of Edinburgh. After inheriting his uncle's Edinburgh practice in 1895, he held several appointments in the city, including at the Royal Infirmary, the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, the New Town Dispensary, and the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. He died in 1919 following prolonged influenza.
