Peter Young trained in Edinburgh, earning his MD from the University of Edinburgh and becoming a Licentiate of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1857. He specialised in obstetrics, serving as Physician-Accoucheur at the Edinburgh Royal Dispensary and later as Lecturer on Midwifery and Diseases of Women at the Edinburgh School of Medicine. He died in 1904.
