Peter Niddrie

Peter Niddrie received his medical degree from the University of Glasgow on 29 April 1835. He served as surgeon to the naval hospitals at Beirut and Acre during operations in Syria in 1840-1841 and spent the remainder of his career in the Royal Navy. Niddrie contributed papers on cholera to The Lancet between 1832 and 1849 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh on 4 December 1851. He died on 9 April 1862 at Buckingham House, Great Malvern.
