Nathaniel Thomas Brewis earned his MB CM from the University of Edinburgh in 1882 and was later elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. He specialised in gynaecology and served as Obstetrician at several Edinburgh hospitals, including the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where he was Superintendent until his retirement in 1922. He also represented Scotland at rugby union level on six occasions and served as President of the Scottish Rugby Football Union in 1885. He died in Edinburgh in 1924.
