Maurice Gilbert Hannay

Maurice Gilbert Hannay was born in 1875 and educated at Abingdon Grammar School. He entered Charing Cross Hospital as a medical student in 1894, obtained the Conjoint qualification in 1900 and MD (Brussels) with honours in 1907. After general practice he specialised in dermatology, serving as Clinical Assistant at Charing Cross Hospital and the Victoria Hospital for Children. He was instrumental in founding the London School of Dermatology at St John's Hospital for Diseases of the Skin and became its first Dean. Hannay was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1919 and died on 24 October 1924.
