Jonathan Campbell Meakins

Jonathan Campbell Meakins was born in Hamilton, Ontario, in 1882. After graduating from McGill University in 1904 he held posts at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Montreal, and was appointed Director of Experimental Medicine at McGill in 1912. He worked in London as a cardiological research associate to Thomas Lewis and served at the Military Heart Hospital during the First World War. From 1919 to 1924 he was Professor of Therapeutics at the University of Edinburgh and was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 1919. He later served as Deputy Director of Medical Services in the Canadian Army and edited the American Heart Journal. He died on 12 October 1959.
